At Picnic Creek State School, we highly value the home-school relationship and encourage open lines of communication between parents and the school. To ensure that our teachers can give their full attention to discussions about your child's progress, we ask that you make an appointment in advance. This allows us to dedicate the necessary time and focus to address any questions or concerns you may have. If parents still have concerns after the meeting with the teacher, they can then make an appointment with the Assistant Principal.
In addition to the day-to-day communication, schools are required to issue a written report to parents, twice yearly, on student achievement against the Achievement Standards using the relevant reporting scale.
Reporting processes build the home-school partnership and communicate understandings about:
• the learning expectations for the student
• the student's achievement against the relevant standard
• how well the student is engaging with the expected learning
• how the student may be able to improve.
At Picnic Creek State School, written reports are issued in Term 2 and 4. Parent teacher interviews are conducted in Term 1 and in Term 3 by request.
