In Music, students listen to, compose and perform music from a diverse range of styles, cultures, traditions and contexts. They create, organise, manipulate and share sounds in time and space, and critically analyse music. Music practices are aurally based and focus on developing and applying knowledge and skills through sustained musical engagement and experiences. The focus is predominantly practical, ensuring students are able to engage with musical instruments in a hands-on setting as much as possible, learning to play well known songs and to create their own songs and sounds according to the task. Singing, usually in groups, and sometimes individually, also plays a vital role in developing our students' musical knowledge and performing experience. Theoretical components of reading and writing music is also included in our learning, but fun is always prioritised!
