School Enrolment Management Plans

The Department of Education is responsible for providing facilities to meet the educational needs of students residing within a school's catchment area. A catchment area is the defined geographical area from which a state school accepts its core intake of students.

New schools, such as Picnic Creek State School, have a School EMP in place as infrastructure is provided to meet current and projected in-catchment needs. Picnic Creek State School may be unable to meet inevitable future growth, unless action is taken to manage enrolments. The Principal must restrict the enrolment of out-of-catchment students to ensure in-catchment students can enrol at their local state school, without requiring additional facilities.

Catchment areas for all Queensland state schools are available on the link below.
